HISTORY My name is Chase and I am 12 years old. I started riding about 3 years ago and I love it! I ride a YZ-85 and I think that it is the best bike ever. I am half Japanese and half white, which is referred to as "happa". I'm cool with that because that is what I am. I get pretty good grades in school, my favorite is math because it comes easy to me, but I struggle sometimes with reading because it is not my thing, unless I find a really good book and can't put it down. I swim and play Little League in the summer and I live on Catalina Island. How cool is that? That's all I can think of for now, maybe I will add more later...thanks for stopping by.
AUGUST 2010
Apologies for my lack of activity here, the end of 2009 year was rough for our family financially and one of the things that suffered was our computer. It crashed big time and mom finally got it fixed this year!!! Racing last year was pretty good for me, I finished out the year 3rd in points in the Youth novice class on my YZ-85! I finished racing my 65 til about May of last year and got too tall for it.
This year, the first half of the year has been pretty good for me, I've finished first in my class the last 3 races on the 85! I just turned 12 in July, but I think I am supposed to finish out the year in the same class I started in, Youth novice. I can't wait to move up to the next age group!
GOALS FOR THIS YEAR:
I am looking forward to competing with the 12-15 age group next year. I look at it as a challenge and know that it will help me step my game up. So, the classes I am going to race will be Super Youth Mini and also the Mini group. I can't wait! COMPETITIVE HIGHLIGHTS: I was so excited to race at Glen Helen cuz I saw the Nationals there last year and couldn't believe that I was gonna get to race on the same track!
The most exciting thing that happened to me was I got my first holeshot at LACR and then I finished 3rd in that race!!! Man did that feel good, I'll never forget it!
And my race at 29 Palms would have been ok if I did not crash and get my first DNF, but I learned something really important, I have to hydrate and drink lots of water days before the race. Everyone kept telling me to drink water. I never want to be remembered again as the kid that didn't finish the race cuz he got de-hydrated! It made me very sad, but I learned from it for next time.
Update: Well, I have finished my first year of racing...I would have to say that the highlight of the year was coming in first in my class at Ridgecrest! I was so excited!
