HISTORY My name is Matt Turner and I like to ride. I started riding dirt bikes when I was 7 years old. My addiction to two wheels all started when my dad got me a Z50 for my first bike on my 7th birthday. Ever since, I have been competitively driven to better myself in the sport and find new and innovative ways to have fun on my dirt bike. Growing up, I have always considered Jeremy McGrath to be my mentor in the sport. He is such an inspiration and positive role model to motocross riders all over. MC made motocross what it is today and his autobiography Wide Open has taught me that motocross is not just about winning, it's a way of life. At a day's end, whether it be podium finish or hospital visit, i love to ride my dirt bike. I have also been getting into the mini moto scene and learned that it can be a lot of fun too! Expect to see me and my guys from RideUnderground.com out in the mix in the upcoming season of events around the north west. Apart from my career in motocross, I also attend Gonzaga University working towards a degree in Business Administration. My second love is snowboarding. I grew up teaching
at Mt. Spokane and because of this have gotten to snowboard beautiful
mountains outside of the country and have earned unforgettable skills,
memories and friendships. I also like rallying my Subaru STi its another great way to get your andrenaline rushing in the off season.
Hit me up and lets go ride! GOALS FOR THIS YEAR:
Whenever I start to make a list of goals for the upcoming year, it always seems to get longer but I have learned that is good, especially in motocross! This year I plan to work towards a 3.2 GPA minimum in college, get in optimal cardio shape to be at a competitive level physically, practice at the local motocross track twice a week and race or participate in organized practice every weekend. And most importantly all this cannot be achieved without having fun, staying focused, not riding over my ability level and not getting injured so that I can spend more time on my dirt bike. COMPETITIVE HIGHLIGHTS: Back when I was racing 60's my dad took off many Fridays from work to travel around the NW racing the PacWest series. After many long weekends and new pistons, I cleaned up the series with an overall 1 to take the win in the 6-8 year old class.
Airway Heights, WA - Summer Grand Mini National - raced the MM10A class, never raced pit bikes before, went out and swept both motos and took the overall! Tons of spectators riders, it was a blast and I will never forget it!
After recovering from a broken collarbone, first race back on the 250F, I went out to my first lites race during a night series at the local track (Extreme Motorsports) after moving up to lites B class and I took the win in my first moto. Biggest motivating and confidence building race I have had.
These accomplishments in my mind stand out and really make me love riding my dirt bike.
