HISTORY

My name is Treavis Poynter. I am 25 years old and I reside in The Plains, OH.  I have been riding since the age of four and have competed in motocross since the age of five.  I have attended Gary Bailey Motocross School five times and I now teach and train local riders and help other schools, such as Big Guys MX School.  I competed in a AMA event almost every weekend until March of 2008.  I broke thirteen bones in nine months and the apprenticeship program I was in said that if I missed anymore work for injuries that I would lose my position.  I finished my apprenticeship on April 24th.  With that part of my life completed and my position secured I am free to race now.  I went to a local MOVMX race on April 30th where a friend let me race his KTM 150SX.  I had not raced in 3 years and managed to finish 2nd in the Open A class against all 450s.  Josh Perkins was at that race and offered to fund my racing season for 2011.  I feel I have a great oppurtunity to get back into racing and plan to take full advantage of this oppurtunity.

Recent Success

Locally, I have enjoyed success in the past by winning twenty-three of the thirty races that I entered in 2007 and winning the first six motos I raced in 2008 before being injured.  I earned two championships in the Ohio Valley Motocross series; Lites A and Motocross A.  I also earned the Lites A championship in the “Roostin’ on the River” series in 2007.  I was undefeated in both of those series.  

GOALS FOR THIS YEAR:

For the 2011 season I was picked up by Perkins Racing.  We plan to attend atleast one event each weekend including local series (MOVMX, WEXCR, and District 11 races) and also GNCC, SNCC, and bigger MX events.  I believe I have the speed to be a top contender and I have the mental toughness and desire to train properly.  As for my training regimen, my good friend Josh Martin has a doctorate in Sports Medicine and Exercise, and will be training me for the 2011 season.  He has worked with motocross pros such as Jeff Gibson and Willy Browning.  I believe that working with him will help me to be physically prepared for the races.

Perkins Racing's Billy Tebay will be my mechanic for the 2011 season.  He is an excellent and knowledgeable mechanic with over twelve years wrenching experience.  He will maintain my bike and make sure that all of my sponsor’s logos and products are clean, visible, and properly represented.  I have included my race results from the last two years that I raced.  Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and I hope that you will consider me to represent your company.

COMPETITIVE HIGHLIGHTS:

One of my most exciting races in 2007 when I battled against Yamaha-backed Yamaha-sponsored Thad Duvall at a Grand Prix race in Wildwood, Ohio, on July 7.  Thad and I opened up a sizeable lead on the rest of the field with me leading only by a few bike links. As the race went on, the pace seemed to get faster and I slowly inched away until a creek crossing.  I had been lofting my front wheel over the creek crossing all day, but this time I did not carry the front wheel far enough.  I sat it down in the creek soaking my throttle grip and leaving it spinning with very little throttle movement.  I charged to the pits the best I could where a friend dried my grip and tie wired it.  I managed to finish second, but it was very frustrating.  I raced another Grand Prix at Fast Traxx with Thad where we came from dead last and cut Cory Buttrick’s lead from two minutes to twenty six seconds until my oil filter seal started leaking and I could not finish.  Throughout my amateur career I battled with riders like Davi Millsaps, Gavin Gracyk, and I have even beaten riders such as Bobby Kiniry, Michael Willard, Kyle Chisolm, and Broc Hepler.
