My name is Ben Butler and I am 8 years old and from Fort Branch, Indiana. I'm in the 2nd grade and on the Distinguished Honor Roll. I have a younger brother Zach and a younger sister Abby. I started racing on a Honda CRF 50 in 2007 and am now riding a 2009 King Cobra. Since moving up to a race 50 in June of 2008 I have won 42 out of 60 races that I have entered. I have made the podium 55 times out of those 60 races and I have gotten the holeshot 64 times. I love to jump and that is one of my greatest skills. My favorite rider is James "Bubba" Stewart. I love to play football and swim. I also like to play my PS3. I enjoy riding my bicycle and scooter, fishing and I also like to hunt deer with my grandpa and cousins. I am a very outgoing person and I like to stay busy all the time.
My #1 goal in 2010 is to qualify for Loretta Lynn's in the 50 Sr (7-8) class. I don't plan to run any points series so I can be free to race anywhere I want. I plan to travel to larger tracks with tougher competition in order to be prepared for the Loretta Lynn Qualifiers and Regionals. We plan to race some of the Loretta Lynn Qualifiers and Regional tracks throughout Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, Georgia, Alabama and hopefully Texas. We recently got 100 tons of dirt for our personal track so I will continue working on improving my cornering and jumping skills as well as my starts. I will train at least 2 or 3 days per week at our personal track and race on weekends. I additionally plan to train anywhere from a few days to a week with a couple of top national riders that we have gotten to know through racing.
Since moving up to a race 50 in June of 2008 I have recorded 42 race wins and have made the podium 92% of the time. I won two points championships in 2008 in the 50 Jr class. One at Posey County MX in New Harmony, IN and the other at Backwoods Motorsports in Tennyson, IN. In 2009 I won the overall points championship in the 50 Sr (7-8) and 50 Open (4-8) classes at Crossroads MX in Mason, IL, which hosted a Loretta Lynn Qualifer in 2009 and will host a Loretta Lynn Regional in 2010. I also won the points championship in the 50 Sr (7-8) and 50 Open (4-8) classes for the Stateline Summer Series which is made up of eight races between Crossroads MX in Mason, IL and Little Sturgis MX in Sturgis, KY. In 2009 I won 25 races and grabbed 42 holeshots. Overall, I had 33 podium finishes in 36 races in 2009.
