Personal History

My name is Brett Day and I am #813. I am currently riding a 2011 Cobra cx50cc. I just transitioned from my KTM sxJunior 50cc. From the moment I was born, my mom says I was fearless. I crawled at 5 months old, walked at 9 months old, rode a skateboard at 14 months old, rode my razor scooter at 22 months old, rode my bicycle with out training wheels at 2 years old, and a motorcycle at 2 1/2 years old. It seems that I am always in trouble for doing something extreme. Whether it be trying to ride the scooter down the slide, standing on the swings, buiding my ramp up higher and jumping over my friend laying down in front of it. My mom always freaks out! I have a home made foam pit that my mom made me and my friends from the track will come over and we like to play Nitro Circus live in the front yard. When I am not pushing everything to the limit, I like to play soccer, swim, play wii and PS2. My mom and I like to take "Brett and mommy vacays". We go to the beach, Palm Desert, Las Vegas and Camping. Since even before I started racing, I like to go to the local tracks and practice as much as I can. When we have a free weekend, I like to stay home, wash my dirtbikes, play with my dogs and hang out with my friends from school. We like to play Batman and Robin, spys and bad guys, make a tent, or make a track in the living room and see how high we can jump our mini dirt bikes and drive my mom crazy.

Riding Goals

My goals for the upcoming year are to do good in school, continue to learn my Bible and about God and to win an overall 1st place championship with MotoXkidz. I would also like to race at other local tracks because I know that I have the natural ability and potential to go to the top in the competitive sport of Motocross and I plan to do so! There is nothing that I love more then riding my dirt bike. Not even an ice cream sundae with ALL the toppings!!! My biggest goal is to ride as well as I can, earn the respect and honor of a sponsor/sponsors so that I can help take the financial burden off my mom and I can begin to race at more events and take racing to its next level.

Competitive Highlights

I have now raced a total of 23 races witha total of 92 motos. They are a two moto format with an overall high score wins. I have had so much fun since I started racing. My very first race was a pw50/jr50cc 4-6 beginner class and I won 1st place. The second race on the same day was a pw50cc open thru 8 class, and I won another 1st place. When I got home that night, my very first tooth ever had fell out as soon as we walked in the door. I was the luckiest kid in the world... I won TWO 1st place trophies and got a visit from the tooth fairy all in the same day!

In May 2011, I was moved to an advanced class because I had won four 1st places in a row (even took a few crashes and lapped a few guys). So they kicked me out of that class and joined me with the older and faster kids. I continued to place in the top 3 with mostly 1st places as well. Occasionally they would combine classes if circumstances permitted them to for time purposes and I would race with the KTM's. Obviously they would be scored seperately but that did not stop me from beating them also. At that time, I was on my trusty little Suzuki jr50 that never let me down and I was able to beat the race bikes that I wasn't even up against. What can I say, "I LOVE TO RACE"!!!

My last race that took place on June 25th 2011 at Starwest MX track in Perris California, I raced my KTM for the first time in a 50cc two stroke starter class. My first moto, I started off the line a little slow and went down in the first turn with all the other riders. I was able to get my bike up quickly and zoomed out of there leaving me in 8th place. I knew that I only had six laps to make this win happen. I moved up quickly and steadily making my way, passing them one by one. I managed to do it in four laps and was able to hold the 1st place spot for the last two laps taking a 1st place in that moto.

My second race of that day was a pw50cc open thru 8 class. I got a fair start but knew I had to work at this one if I wanted to win this race. I took this race with a little more aggression then I did my last race. I worked my way up to a 2nd place spot and ended up in a battle for 1st place for the last three laps. Not too far before the finish line and on the last lap, I was riding neck and neck alongside another rider. Unfortunately he lost control on the whoops and took me out with him. I was devistated that I wasn't able to finish the race due to an injury to my hand. My papa carried me off the track and my mom took my bike and gathered up some ice and made me sit down and take a rest (remember, I am only 5yrs old and my mommies only child). I had about 20 minutes before my next moto and I was ready!!! Nothing was gonna stop me from winning this next race...NOTHING!!! (except this) read on....

This was the last moto of my pw50cc starter class and I got a rough start again.  (yes, my mom/mechanic is going to adjust my clutch to be a little more aggressive off the line) I REALLY had to work my way up this time. And I did with ease of course. I just thought to myself and remembered what my mom always told me and applied it. She has always taught me that sometimes "slow is fast". I never really understood her until one race where I was in 1st place and on my last lap and I got squirly in the whoops and ate it. Bent my forks up and tweaked my handle bars (still finished the race though). So this time, "I remembered it". She also taught me that I dont always have to be on the inside to pass. So, when I creeped my way up to the 1st place rider and tried to pass him on the inside and couldn't get around him, I decided that I could take him on the outside because "that's how I roll, NO FEAR" and it was a success (for a few seconds anyway) !!! It wasn't long before this old timer caught right back up with me and we were back to an ugly battle. Handle bar to Handle bar, last lap and he jumped ahead of me on the table top, got squirly, lost it and took me out with him!!!!! Down we went, bikes flying and flipping everywhere (refer to my photo gallery). That was my last chance to win this race of the day. I ended up being able to jump on my bike and cross the finish line and collect my points with an overall 5th place in that class. I went on to prepare to race my last moto of the day....

My last moto of that was my 50cc open thru 8 class. Now remember, I had a rough day... So my mom is making me take it easy now. I got a good start and didn't tangle up with anyone in the first turn. I raced good and took it easy. I promised my mom I would! I ended up in 3rd place and finished with an overall 3rd for the day!!!

Maybe these are not necessarily "highlights", but they just a few are MY GREAT RACING MOMENTS!!! Thanks for reading :)
