Personal History
My name is Jonathan Harker and I am from Morgantown,West Virginia. I am 20 years old and race the Open B class in the Gramd National Cross Country series. I am a full time student at WVU and plan to graduate in spring 2017. I have just recently moved into the afternoon 1pm race which is an additional hour longer than when I was winning in 250C earlier in the 10am 2 hour race. Previously before GNCC racing, I raced motocross for 12 years before finding a new interest in off road racing.
Riding Goals
My riding goals for 2016 are to be prepared physically. I feel pretty strong after 3 hours in the woods but feel like I lack the intensity. All year I feel like I have progressed in each race on riding smart and picking good lines. Being my first full year in the national series, I feel like I have enough experience to start going for wins next year.
Competitive Highlights
My biggest highlight of the year were my 2 wins at Snowshoe and the John Penton. The John Penton takes place in southern Ohio at the Sunday Creek Raceway facility. The whole track is pretty much wide open motocross so I was able to adapt and bring home my first win in the series. The next race in the series at Snowshoe, was a different story. Saturday night. It rained 2.5 inches on the mountain resort and was anything but fast. Luckily, I got a good start and was able to stretch a 10 minute lead and an extra lap over the rest of the class. After winning, I decided to go to the pm race to better my stamina and become a faster racer. Everything is rougher and there are some exclusive sections for the afternoon race that can be challenging.
