Rider Updates
The weekend started on a ride with fellow Pro Ice Racer Greg Quantz, We headed out to the "secret" training ground I have found myself at 3 times a week. Swapping for my somewhat new 18" rear with a Karlsbad 130/18 on the rear, we set out to bash some bars on the custom course I had built with some other buddies. The day actually started at noon as we hit the bikeshops to re-gear ourselfs. I was looking for scotts goggles, gloves, pants, front tire & possibly a rear tire. After 2 hours of bike shops we decided to actually hit the track waiting for us, All 23c degrees of it! Once we arrived we unloaded and set our way, it was hot, dusty, full of armpump, bashing bars and burning rubber on each others pants, it was a great day.My night ended at 1am as i was locked out of my sisters place where i was staying the night before leaving at 7am for Porcupine hills. It was a long night, full of ancicipation & restlessness. Once arriving at the race I spent most of the morning chatting with familar faces & standing in line for my barcode. Signing up as junior (cmrc) I thought i was in for a day of fun. Little did i know there would be hell to pay, on both body & bike.... After 30 minuets of waiting on the line, it was our turn, 30 juniors, 100KM, 4+ hours of pain. On the line i was chatting with fellow racer Jillian Kings, we joked on how we were going to kick each other all day, I had trouble just finding a spot on the line! The shotgun sounded, new to me I kicked the bike over & headed for the trees, juniors everywhere. I ended up coming into the trees too hot & jumped over some rutts that recently made friends with an intermediate. On our way it was train after train, no where to pass you had to eat the mud/ice/snow of the guy
