Personal History

Nate VanderVliet - #58

I grew up racing since the age of 4. Motocross was the majority of my youth. Budds Creek national, Charlotte hall, Maryland was my home town track. Motocross was always mostly for fun but I would compete almost every weekend and hit most of the Loretta qualifiers with respectable results.

Years 2014-17 I slowed down motocross to build and focus on my company, Exotic Vehicle Wraps in sterling, VA. Around 2018 I was able to afford getting back into racing and became interested in racing hare scrambles and Full gas Sprint enduros. These were a blast and thought me more about endurance and different skill sets.

In between racing, during the winter months I began arranging riding trips. A few buddies got together and built a Motovan to fill with some bike and keep out west for monthly ride trips. We still do a ride trip about once a month, usually between Phoenix and Idaho depending on the time of year. Fortunately I also have enjoyed a few riding trips overseas to Greece and Ireland. Portugal was planed for 2020 but moved to 2022. My goal is for every year to experience at least 1 riding trip in a different country. Romania is next, Baja soon.

In 2019 I was invited to race my first desert race in the Mint 400. This race got me hooked. In September 2020 I flew from Va to SLC to race my first solo National Hare and hound in NV finishing 3rd in class and 66th oa on a stock Ktm excf 350. In October 2020 I moved full time to SLC to ride and race the west mountains and deserts!

I currently own 4 bikes, one for each type of riding: 2018 TE 300 , 2019 KTM 350 excf, 2020 YZ450f, 2021 FE 501. I recently owned a 2018 FX350 that I raced the first half of the 2021 hare and hound series. I sold the 350 to buy the 501 which I'm currently building for the remaining H&H series and the 2021 MINT 400.

To wrap things up, I've been and always will be an off-road/ moto enthusiast. I enjoy and try to balance all types of riding which I believe makes me a very well rounded expert rider. I own a small business so I understand what a company values and is looking for when providing a sponsorship. 2021 has been a great racing year so far and I expect 2022 to be the same. My plan is to have a dialed in dessert bike(the 501) and run for the Open expert Hare and Hound championship. In between, race iconic races such as the Vegas to Reno, Mint 400, Idaho 100, Shaddy Burro and anything else that gets thrown my way. Thanks for the consideration!
