The Best In The Desert "Silver State 300" presented by VT Construction is an awesome race! Starting near Alamo, NV and looping 300 miles around the small town of Caliente, NV, you get every type of terrain from mountain fire roads and river crossings, to dry lake beds and desert silt. My brother started the race at 6:15 AM in 7th place in Open Expert. At race mile 72 (Pit #2), I would get on the bike and take it to pit #4 at RM 150. My game plan for this race was to find a comfortable but quick pace to feel out how my body felt after crashing in Laughlin a month before. Luckily my body felt strong and at about race mile 95 i started to push harder to catch the guys in front of us. Other than going over the handle bars in a DEEP silt section around RM 130, my 80 mile sections was flawless. Nick got back on the bike and would take it to about RM 210 at Pit #6. At pit #6 I would get back on the bike and ride another 50 mile section to pit #7. After getting some fluids and food in me on the drive to pit #6, I was feel great and ready to push as hard as i could to catch the guys up front. However, after having a flawless race to the finish, we could not catch the leaders and would officially finish 7th out of 10.
We are currently sitting in 3rd place in the season championship points standing, and with the final motorcycle race of the season coming, Vegas to Reno, we will need another perfect race and some good luck to capture this championship!! Thank you to all the sponsors that support us!
