Well unfortunately with MX its not if your going to get hurt its when. This was Tylers weekend. On his last practice lap he crashed over a big finish line jump on his 65 (he was making it fine the last two previous laps, but the last lap a kid crossed over from one side onto Tylers side and almost hit ty, when Ty saw him coming he backed off on the throttle at the last min which slowed him and he landed on top of the big gap jump instead of on the down side) He got flipped over and drilled into the dirt. He was knocked out and broke his wrist and forearm. He regained consciousness pretty quick and was listed as only a grade 1/2 concussion but his arm is trashed. He had a complete fracture of the ulna and radius 100%. The radius was pushed from his "thumb side" to the pinky side shifting his forearm 2-3 inches over. He was taken by ambulance to Loma Linda where they put him out and tried to set the bones the best they could but it is an unstable high velocity fracture so its tough to stabilize. At first we thought he was surgery bound but after consulting with two surgeons yesterday the consensuses is to cast it and see what happens. The only problem seen is that one of the bone fragments is sitting close to the growth plate, but as the Ortho said, "we can always do surgery, lets see if the body absorbs the fragment". I am grateful for Loma Lindas pediatric trauma center, they were awesome and did a great job of lining the bones up. He is in a cast from shoulder to hand and will be seen in one week to see how things are looking. The surgeon wants to keep a close eye and steady follow up with him to see how he does since he is in a high risk sport. Also, he can't move his arm at all right now since the fracture was such a high impact he can't move his arm due to the soft tissue damage and disrupted periosteum we want it to heal straight and strong. In two weeks he should be out of the "danger zone" so keep your fingers crossed.

The worst part is that Ty is

Well we started the AMA Southern California Championship series with high hopes but the series did not live up to its name. Since its run by California Desert clubs its not a real MX series. We are leaving the series for 2 reasons. One, they tend to take out all the jumps (they are more concerned with the veteran mx riders with old bikes that have limited suspension) and two there are no kids that show up. Both races there have been two 9 year olds and Tyler. Even though the one 9 year old turned 9 this year, there is limited competition. If there are jumps and technical sections, Tyler wins, if its flat and turning, the other kid wins since his mod bike is faster. We are choosing to move on to find better competition and better tracks that will allow Tyler to grow as a MX rider.

We found it this weekend at Perris Raceway. On Sat night they held the second round of the “Hot summer nights Series”. It was a HUGE turn out with riders coming from all over. It had the feel of a Gold Cup or National event. There were over 45 65 riders and over 30 50 riders of all classes with some of the fastest kids in the nation there getting ready for Ponca/Lorettas.

He entered the 7-8 50cc Mod class and 6-8 65cc stock class. He was awesome! I got the hole shot until Tristan Miller took the lead from him in the first moto. He battled with the best 7-8 kids that this state has and came away with a 4th overall place going 4-3. He would have got third but a kid went 2-4 and beat him out by a point. No crashes in the moto for anyone so it was fast clean racing with big jumps. There were 14 on the gate.

In the 65 class there were 15 on the gate and he went 6-6 beating out a kid who dominates at AV Motoplex. He felt great in his first big race on his 65 and did a fantastic job against the odds of lights and racing at 11pm as a 8 year old. (He was very tired)

We went to bed at midnight and got up at 7:30 for another race. This time it was the G

Well, after World minis we decided to take a break, ride for fun and do our other favorite past time, go water skiing. Tyler also picked up a used 65 and began to learn how to ride it. We have been riding it on different tracks 2-3 times a weeks to get use to different terrains, dirt/sand conditions and changing elevations. He wanted to race both the 50 and 65 on his birthday, May 20 when he turned 8. So, we loaded up and went to AV moto plex. He was leading in the 50 class with a win in the first moto, the second moto he went down, but managed to get up and finish and pulled out a second overall. He raced his 65 well and turned some heads to get a second overall in his first race on his own 65 (other races on a 65 were on a borrowed bike).

This weekend we canceled our memorial day plans and at the last minute he wanted to race a track he had never been to, LACR. They were having their round 4 of the Dunestown series, so we crashed the party and went to race a brand new track. He entered the 50 super PW (7-9) and the 0-8 65 class. First moto on the 50 he road a clean race, only one that jumped the big finish line double and won the first moto! The track was sandy and he was sliding a lot trying to get use to the track while also staying up with the local heros. On the 65 he looped the start, and once he got going he was dead last. Work up to 5th and went down again, he would repeat that three times, falling in the sandy dry conditions a total of 4 times. Finished 8th.

Second Moto, went out on the 50 and got the HOLE SHOT, first one all year. Slipped in a very dry and sandy corner and lost the lead, chased down the leader only to go down again. Got back up and charge only to GO DOWN AGAIN and this time hurt his knee. He got up again, and without putting pressure on his leg went out after the leader since he needed to get second to get the win, since the guy leading the race got third in the first moto. He jumped the finish line jump with a Gna

World Mini Grand Prix 2007

Well, this is the first National size race Tyler has done. Wow, what an experience. There are over 500 racers from all over the world (Tyler has kids from France and South Africa in his heats) as well as over 400 RVs camping on site. Most events that Ty has raced will have anywhere from 9 to 20 races for the entire event, (each event will break down races to Peewees, 65s, 85s, 125s and 250s) then they have 2 motos for each). Here, there are 92 races! It is taking 4 days to get through all the races, Wed and Thur was moto 1 and Fri and Sat will be moto 2. Sunday will be the finals or main events. They take the top 30 kids to the main event. If you have two heats in your race then they take the top 15 finishers in each heat, if you have three heats then the top 10 from each heat and so on. In each heat there will be anywhere from 35-45 on a gate. The other cool thing about this place is we are right next to Nellis Airforce base so all day, every day we get treated to an airshow of all forms of fighter jets taking off, flying over head and landing. F-15s, F-16, Raptors, Warthogs and the Thunderbirds. Michele is in heaven and it is very cool, especially at night when you see the afterburners!

Tue, was practice day, the riders got to see this track which is very hard, full of deep ruts, thick mud and long jumps. Tyler and most of the kids in his group had trouble with the deep ruts getting stuck in them due to their bike heights. There was a long straight away that was sucking the bikes and the riders were falling left and right. Since Tyler is entered in 3 events, (50cc 7-8 stock, 50cc 7-8 modified and Super peewee 6-9) he got two practices. He did well and started to figure the track out but he has never seen ruts this deep, plus this event is huge! We also battled with bike problems. Tylers race bike has not run well for the past 3 weeks. We put a top end thinking that was a problem, then raced the sat before and found

After a disappointing race last weekend at Cahuilla creek where Tyler got two bad starts to finish 6th overall. This dropped him from third overall to 4th overall only 2 points ahead of 5th place who was riding very well. This weekend we went to RaceTown 395 for the series finals. This track suited his style much better, big jumps, rhythm sections, rutted turns and big. Tyler got a much better start this time, thanks to some help from some friends and in a full gate with a lot of talent went 4-4 in each moto. The greatest thing was that on moto 2 he was in 5th chasing down the 4th place guy who had a 10 sec gap on him in the first lap, he caught him in the last quarter of the track on the last lap and was right behind the 3rd place guy at the end. Due to the finishes of the other riders in both motos, he got the third overall for the day! Only one kid beat him both motos and he is one of the top 8 year olds in the Country, which made him feel good since he was the highest placing 7 year old for the day. The best part, that placing moved him up in the overall rankings which placed him 3rd OVERALL for the Series! He was pumped.

Side note, borrowed a KTM 65, only has ridden a clutch bike 5 times, decided to enter the 0-8 65 class (only 7 year old in the field of 10), missed the hole shot by a few feet, was third to the turn and got a 7th overall for the day! He would have done better, but made beginning shifting errors and laid it down twice. He was so stoked and can't wait to get faster on it.

Mar 3 2007

Tyler raced today (March 3rd) at the opening of the M2X Spring series held at AV Motoplex in Lancaster, Ca. He is not going to race in the series since there is a conflict between this series and the last two rounds of the GFI series. He just wanted to go for the day race to stay sharp, try out a 65cc and go head to head with a kid who he has placed second to for the past 5 months.

50cc 7-8 class:

Tyler had a bad start and then crashed in the first turn. He finally got going and was sitting 12 out of 14. Worked his way through the field and was making 7 seconds a lap on the lead group, passed third pace on the last lap and finished second, AGAIN.

Second moto, much better start and gained the lead by the third turn and never looked back. Three laps later he took the checkered flag in FIRST and with that got the overall win! Finally getting the result he has worked hard for.

65cc 0-8 class:

Borrowed a 65 on Friday (yesterday), second time he has ridden a clutch and 65. Went out on the track (first time on a track with a 65) road three laps before the track closed. Decided to race it today and placed 4th out of 7. This was with shifting mistakes and heavy winds. He was stoked and ready to get fast on one.

His next race is next weekend at Cahuilla Creek, Ca for Round 4 of the GFI South Series.

Again, thank you for all your support, we could not do it with out your help.

Terry and Tyler Weyman #120

The weather was absolutely beautiful but the race was to be a good one. The track also proved to be a very technical race. On Saturdays practice there were riders falling down left and right. One 5 year old was landed on and broke his femur while another injuried his shoulder. There were a lot of loose rocks and big jumps. Tyler figured out the track and was ready for race day on Sunday. We walked the track in the morning and after making some changes in our strategy he was ready to go. There was a gate of 10 riders in his gate. On the first moto he was 6th out of the gate but jumped a huge double (one of only two riders in the field to make the jump and passed two riders in flight) he finished 4th. The second moto got a much better start and was 4th out of the first turn close to third, again jumped the double and passed the third place rider in the air (he rolled it). Was chasing number 2 when he went off the finish line jump and over jumped it and landed hard which caused his helmet to slip forward and shifted his goggles over his eyes, he pulled off a sideways bounce and went off the course, pulled over, fixed his goggles and helmet and took off again, only lost 1 place. Was closing in on the guy who passed him but ran out of track for a 4-4 finish. Was so proud of his charge and his riding ability. He is moving up in the series, first round went 8-5, second round went 5-5 and now he went 4-4. Two more races to go!

Jan 27 2007

Well, we were all set for a great finals. Tyler was sitting third in the overall points after three rounds (he missed the first round due to KJSC event at Anaheim 1) by just 4 points. The field was full and the skies were gray. In the first moto he was second to the first turn behind his arch rival, Z-ray who has beaten him in the last few races. Last year z-ray was beating him by a half a track, now, its a half a bike. Tyler has improved so much over all his contenders. Z-ray is also 8 and has over a year of experience on Tyler. The first moto the two of them were gone in a full field (14 riders) they swapped the lead three times and Zray got Tyler in the last lap by a half a bike when Tyler went wide in a turn. The rain was starting by the second moto, and Tyler got the hole shot. He led the race by quite a lot for the first two laps. Coming into the first turn of the last lap Tyler hit a rut and went down. As he was picking up his bike in the blind turn Zray ran smack into him and both riders flew. Zrays bike landed on top of him. Zray picked his bike up and took off, Tyler and he slowly got up and with help went back to his bike, got it started and took off. Unfortunately, he was now way behind Zray but since their lead over third was substantial, he was able to get up and out before the rest of the pack had come around. He finished second in moto two despite the crash! He was more upset of loosing the lead than the injury he sustained (minor). However, his finish was good enough to vault him to a second place overall for the series which he was very happy. He has vowed that he will no longer loose to Zray and has set his sites on his next race at Competitive edge for the second round of the GFI south series. As a Dad, the cool thing was all the kids came up to him, saw the cuts on his face and patted him on the back calling him "their true Champion" and gave him their tough rider award.

Jan 21 2007

Another dramatic weekend. We headed to Lancaster for round 3 of the M2X winter series at AV Moto plex. Moto 1 Tyler is on fire and wins his first major moto in the 7-8 class! He even beats his buddy, Zack, who he raced with at Anaheim 1. On Moto two at the gate his back tire flats! We run to get his CM 50 and put him on it. He takes off on his CM. He is not riding it hard on the jumps but is fast enough in the turns to pull off a third in a field of 9. Brings the bike back to the pit and we notice that his rear shock is ripped off the swing arm and jammed in the rear wheel! So, he was riding the last lap with no rear shock. With the first and third places he still gets a 2nd overall!

We then take off for Perris California, to race the start of the GFI South Winter Series. Tyler has never seen the Perris Raceway so this was going to be a learning experience, fist large race and a brand new track. He missed the saturday practice schedule due to the M2X race. He did his 3 practice laps in the morning but still did not have the track figured out. First moto finishes 8th out of 11 in the stock 7-8 class. We entered Tyler in the open 50 class to give him some more practice time on the track. Third lap he crashes hard and bent his bars bad. We took the bars off his broken CM and with 5 min to spare got him to the line for the stock 7-8 race. Second moto despite the crash, he did much better, and finishes 5th in a fast field for a 6th over all! Overall great weekend!

Jan 13 2007

After the high from racing at Jr. Supercross, in Anaheim last weekend, it was time to get serious and start his Winter racing season. We headed off to Lancaster, California on friday night to get ready for the M2X winter series that would start on Saturday. The Gold cup is Sunday, also in Lancaster, so a lot of riders were racing the M2X series as a warm up. We rolled into Lancaster on Friday and boy was it cold!. It dropped to 12 degrees at night and when the gates opened, it had warmed up to a chilly 19 degrees. The problem, Tyler developed a full case of Chicken pox and did not sleep friday night due to a raging fever. We gave him the option to pull out and go home to rest. One of his race buddies came over to the trailer to say hi and to wish him well, he asked if Tyler could run some warm up laps with him to pace him. Tyler, despite feeling terrible and our warning, agreed. He got dressed and went out to the track (where the whoops were frozen) to pace his friend, a fast 8 year old). Afterwards, Tyler said he felt good enough to try and race in the first moto. We agreed and got him ready. He was covered in Pox and still had a mild fever. He rolled up to a full gate with the temp at 32 degrees. He crashed in the first turn (4th to turn) and by the time he got up, mud out of his helmit, mud off his goggles so he could see, he was behind a half a track on a 1.5 mile track. He took off and worked his way up from 21st to 5th in three laps! The second moto, he was charged up. During the break between motos, his two buddies came up to him and called him a "true Champion" for racing in his physical condition. They were all blown away and rallied around him like a true set of team mates and friends. The second moto he rode as if he was possessed. He was second into the first turn and never looked back. One of his buddies, Z-Ray and Tyler were gone and never let up. Tyler finished Second and due to the finishes of the others, got the Second overall win/trophy. He felt so

WOW,What a day, This was such a great experience for the entire family. The KTM crew treats their riders like a factory pro. We signed in at 9am, and we went to the KTM trailer where he got his free gear. This included pants, jersey, gloves, helmet and goggles. He then had a riders meeting which went over the rules, times lines and chats with some of the pros. Afterwards we went and walked the track. This was a very tough track since it was a pro supercross track. The jumps were huge (they were not suppose to jump them) and the whoops section was gnarly. All the kids had trouble in the woops. Unlike outdoor whoops, these woops were sharp and very deep and were not designed for small bikes. They had sharp peaks and sharp valleys. Also the steep jumps and sharp down sides which were even hard to walk down. After walking the track they took a break and walked around the pits and saw some of their heros, Since it was Anaheim 1 and Ricky Charmichaels last Pro race the place was packed with superstars.

At 2 they had their first practice. All the kids were scared, intimidated and nervous riding in the Big Stadium and on such a big and hard track. They were crashing left and right. Tyler crashed 4 times (nothing bad) but he was having a hard time getting use to a KTM (these bike were set up to have the clutch hit at 8500 rpms and they are lighter and smaller than his cobra) We were unable to find a KTM to practice on so that made a big difference. Most of the kids there had at least a year of "national experience" Anaheim one being the biggest of the supercross series. Ty got lucky to get in. Also, most of the kids owned KTMs or had ridden them, another huge advantage. The Cobra is faster but set up different and between a tough track and a new bike, huge crowd it was a lot to ask for someone in one night. He came off the track a little scared and intimidated. But there was a kid that he races with there that helped him out and the two of them buddied up and h

Dec 19 2006

Tyler is so excited to be riding at Anaheim stadium on Jan 6 at the KTM challenge. It means so much for him to be selected and to know its Ricki Carmichaels last Anaheim race makes it even better.

Dec 16 2006

Tyler got his new King Cobra two days prior, finished setting it up last night and he wanted to race it in the finals today. Went out to Piru for the finals and the weather was turning for the worst. It rained on and off all day. Tyler road fast and hard with two hole shots and held off the competition even through lapped traffic. Finished 2-2 to his rival for the last two month. This day was Tylers as he beat his rival by more than 15 seconds! This was the last race of the year, but he is getting ready for his winter season.

Nov 19 2006

In the last three rounds he was chasing number 125 who road a Sr. bike to Tylers JR CM 50. First round, Tyler lost to him by 60 min. Second round lost to him by 45 sec. This time, he out rode him in the turns and the jumps and won the first moto by 25 sec and won the second moto by mere 5 sec. He was tired the second moto but hung in there to beat his rival both times. The field was larger than the last moto with 9 on the gate. Tyler gets his new King Cobra in few weeks. He is riding his CM flat out and is ready to go faster.

Nov 18 2006

In the PeeWee class last month lost by a half a lap to a KTM SR. SX pro and Tyler is on the CM 50. This month, he battled witht he KTM Sr. and lost by a wheel in the second moto to go 2-2 in a field of 7.

In the CRF class, battled an 11 year old on a built CRF, placed 2 in the first moto and in the second moto placed another second for an overall of 2. He went for the pass in the last lap for first but a lapped rider got nervous with the two leaders coming up on him and turned into Tyler taking away his line, he lost by a bike length. Field of 9.

Great racing in both classes. A small track so there was a lot of passing of lapped riders. Tyler worked well moving through traffic.

Nov 12 2006

First moto, Tyler had a great start and on his CM 50 was battling a field of 8. He was up against 4 senior 50s and the rest were jr. 50s. During the race he went for all the doubles and made them all for the first time in his racing career on a pro-track. He placed 4th by a few bike lengths.

Second moto had a great start and passed a Sr. Sx to move into third. With three turns to the finish, holding onto 3rd against a faster bike, his chain tension bolt breaks causing his wheel to torque and his chain to come off. The bolt was broken so he was unable to continue at race pace. rolled across the line to get points but was passed and lost his position. He was bummed. Well, next weekend is our weekend!

Nov 5 2006

Weekend one. Breaks clutch on Cobra CM, New King has not arrived yet so to save the series and get some points, enters race on his stock CRF 50. Places 5th out of 8 (almost beat a KTM Jr sx). Will be back next weekend on his CM (after replacing the stater, clutch, radiator and gearing). Will finish the three race series on his new King.

Oct 28 2006

First moto, Pee Wee 50cc (two strokes). Bad start, last out of the gate, 4th in turn one (5 in the race), 7 lap race he caught up to the top three who were moving well in lap 3. Worked to get around them, finally in lap 5 he threw a block pass in one of the turns and moved into second place. Was unable to catch up with the lead guy (got stuck behind a lapped rider).

Second race, a very close mimic of the first moto. Bad start but road very aggressive and made some amazing passes to move back up to second but the field was moving faster and he was unable to catch the first guy but they were the race and Ty road an aggressive race and made some great moves and passes.

First Moto. CRF 50 class. Ty got an ok start 4th out of 8 in turn one. Within three laps and a couple of amazing passes he was sitting second but could not catch the leader.

Second moto. GOT THE HOLE SHOT, great start. led the first three lap with a rider on a faster tricked out bike trying to pass him. Ty rode aggressive, blocking him in turns, taking away the great lines but this kids bike was so much faster. Got taken out in a turn and the bike stalled on top of him. By the time he picked it up (flagger did not see the crash)and tried to start it the field had lapped him. The bike flooded and by the time he got it going the field was gone. He finished overall 5th, but that is racing.

Oct 15 2006

2006 CMC/MTA West AC racing presented the 25th Annual Trans-Cal MX Nationals at AV Motoplex in Lancaster California. The day was beautiful and the track was well prepared. Tyler was nervous being his first national race on a pro-track. He took his warm up laps and prepared to do battle in the peewee 50 beginnner class. He was on the track with the open class and got a taste for what is in his future. On the first moto he crashed in a turn and was passed by a rider on a KTM. He got back up and passed the rider back in three turns. He placed first in Moto one. In the second moto he dominated in his class and took a strong lead that he held onto until the finish. With two wins he took the overall first place trophy!

Sep 24 2006

The day after his MX racing he traveled to Simi Valley to race in his second ever BMX race (He began racing last month. He qualified for the Main event on his first round of racing and placed SECOND in the main event.

Sep 23 2006

Tyler Weyman enters two seperate classes and places in both of them. He will continue to finish the series on his CRF 50 and perfecting his shifting while begins racing on his new Cobra. He entered his first two stoke moto today after getting his Cobra two weeks ago. With only three practice runs, he places 2nd over all (3rd first moto and 2nd second moto for a 2nd overall). He started the series late, (12 race series and entered it at the 8th race) but already has moved up to top 5 after two races in the CRF class and with the second placing is doing well to set him up for the 2007 season.
