Personal History
Hi my name is Walter Sass, I'm 10 years old and live in Hoosick Falls, NY with my mom and dad. I got into dirt bikes when I was about 5 years old, my mom and dad bought me a CRF 50. I started out trail riding with my parents and a couple years ago asked if I could race. This past year my dreams came true. Mom and dad bought me a 2005 KX 65, and I raced my first race at Paradox MX, in Granville NY on May 10th 2015 at 9 years old. I was scared and nervous at first, but mom and dad kept encouraging me to just go out and have fun. I came off the track after my first moto and I have to say I had a blast. After that day we were at a track somewhere in New England every weekend we could be. As the race season went on I became better and did better every race/moto. I did not race for Championship points last year because I wasn't sure if I was going to like it or not. I will be racing for Championship points in 2016.
Riding Goals
My goal is to make it to Loretta Lynn's someday. Mom and dad said they will help me get there, but I have to work hard to build my confidence and work on my technique a bit more. I also hope someday to become part of Team Green!
Competitive Highlights
My best race was at Winchester Speed Park on October 11th 2015. There were 43 kids in my class, the biggest class I had raced that season. My first moto was tough I lost it going through the woops just before the finish line and hurt my shoulder when my bike landed on me. The second moto I went out and gave it my best. I finished 25th out of 43 kids with 33rd over all. I didn't think it was too bad being my first year of racing.
