Personal History
My name is Will Laing. Im 20 years old. Home for me is in Bainbridge Ga, but I am living in Orlando Fl. I currently attending Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Orlando. At the present time, my education is one of the most important things going on for me. Since starting MMI back in September 2008, I haven't been able to train as much as I would like, but I am out on the track every spare moment that I get.
I first became intrested in motocycles when I was about 13 years old. My first bike was a Honda XR 100 that my cousin gave me. It was in pretty bad shape and needed alot of work. I deceided to try and fix it my self. Needless to say, my dad had to place all the parts and peices in a box and it had to be reassembled at the Honda shop. I rode that bike until it was completley worn out and I out grew it as well. I then started riding Yamaha and truley love them. I currently ride a YZ250F my favorite and a YZ250 2-stroke. These bikes have been indestructable!! They are rode hard on every ride, but they are also pampered at the end of the day.
Riding Goals
I really want to do as good as I can and stay healthy. I have really struggled with injuries this past year with broken arms and several surgeries. My goal is for some top 5 results. One of my most important things that I want to achive is to be able to compete at Loretta Lynns', My injuries stopped me last year, but I'm not giving up. I want to continue competing and racing and doing the best I can do. One main goal is to finish at MMI and be one of the best motocross mechanics there is. I want to continue to be involved in the motocross industry in all aspects.
My next up coming race event in June 6&7, in Bainbridge at Southernraceway. It is a memorial challenge race of a fellow rider and friend that died 2 years ago while ridding there at Southernraceway. His name was Gunner Moore. # 12. He loved the sport as much as anyone did. I really miss "the country boy". Every year since his death, this race has been in is honor. His parents are true moto fans, they are at every race here in Bainbridge, Ga.
My next big event that I have been training for is in July, for the Ponco City National Finals. This is my first national race and I am so looking forward to it. I hope to place in the top 5. I am going to give it my heart and soul!!
Competitive Highlights
Some highlights for me are 1st in the 450 and 250 novice class at the Ponca City qualifier. I also have many top 10 finishes in series such as Winter Ams, Gold cup, and some Loretta Lynn qualifiers.
